Secondary schools may not be aware that there are some areas of the school pupils feel unsafe, such as corridors, lunch breaks and to and from school. Other pupils can ask them to join their games and the supervisors can spot whether one child is on their own too often Ask the school if they would consider introducing "friendship seats" or a "buddy bench" if they don’t already, where younger children can go if they have nobody to play with.At a primary school perhaps the supervisors could take a more active role in the playground by keeping an eye on your child and ensuring that people are not excluded from games Ask what the teacher suggests would be the best way of sorting it out.Ask the class teacher, or the head of year at secondary school, if he/she can keep an eye on the situation and let you know if they have any concerns.Ask if the teacher has noticed that your child seems unhappy and isolated and is being excluded from games in the playground or regularly not having a partner to work with in class.Ask how your child is getting on with others in class and raise any issues of conflict with other children.I also like the idea of the “Wall of Shame” and would like to incorporate this into my classroom. The following points are a good way to find out more from the class or form tutor. I will encourage victims to come forward and to not be afraid to ask for help because it is one of the only ways to stop bullies. In my future classroom I plan creating a comfortable environment for students and having a common respect between others. This accomplished by connecting with the students and establishing a common respect between the peers and the teachers, additionally my co-op teacher has created a very comfortable classroom environment. My teacher does a good job of maintaining control and stopping bullying before it happens. There are a few cliques within the class and a few lone rangers who are always alone when it comes to picking groups. Although there is nothing on the surface, I have notice a few instance where I presume there may be something going on. In our classroom there are no sure signs of bullying or cyber bulling going on but, bullies like to be anonymous. The articles discussed similar approach’s to effectively prevent bullying although the articles were not identical, they both did a create job creating awareness and laying out steps to prevent bullying, without a doubt a useful source for a new teacher. This is similar to article “Raising the Alert on Cyber bullying” where all hate mail can be submitted via an online form for the teachers to view and analyze in order to help the students who are being victimized. I thought this would be a very effective approach. An interesting approach that stuck out to be was the “Wall of Shame” students took all the mean comments from Facebook and anonymously posted them on the bulletin board in the café in order to shame the bullies. Creating awareness like anti bullying campaigns are useful and can have positive affects when fighting bullying bullying. Students need to understand telling adults and getting adults involved can actually help them in preventing bullying. The successful format to stop bullying begins by understanding the difference between tattling and telling, many victims are scared to tell because they fear it will inflict more hurt on them in the long run. I found the article “Joining Hands Against Bullying” and “Raising the Alert on Cyber-bullying” both discussed similar ways to prevent bullying, although they are not identical I believe they followed the same format.
